European Import

By far probably the sweetest Cane Corso you will ever meet. The epitome of what is expected from a Cane Corso: Zena is extremely obedient and mindful of what is needed. Unquestioned authority when asserted, very mellow, but highly attuned to her environment. Zena was acquired from a domestic breeder that imported her from Europe, who was “dissatisfied with her potential as a protection dog” and had been keeping her in an outdoor kennel. It was advised at the time of purchase that she might be pregnant, if so, the father was identified as the brother and littermate of our own Sire Rambo. Unfortunately, for whatever the reasons people choose to twist facts and misrepresent things, the truth in time we found as was evidenced by the two puppies that Zena birthed – they were inbred, the father was Zena’s brother not Rambo’s as the breeder we purchased Zena from conceded when confronted. Of note, the signs of inbreeding: pink nose, overbite, abnormal health issues, incorrect eye color, and as discussed in the following article, reduced litter size (Chu, Erin T., et al. “Inbreeding depression causes reduced fecundity in Golden Retrievers.” Mammalian Genome 30.5-6 (2019): 166-172.) Good news! Thankfully, Zenas breeder in Europe was contacted who was beyond helpful and proved to be a person of character, this with her impressive pedigree and the results of her Embark DNA & Genetic Health test, validated her quality. Her first mating with our Sire Rambo produced 8 beautiful puppies. Regarding Zena’s supposed lack of protection instincts – as soon as she felt she was a true part the pack and family, she came out of her quiet shell and let her confidence shine – she is the first to hear or smell a potential threat and more than happy to assist Rambo in securing our home and property. No dog can claim to be a better Mother to their pups, or as effective in keeping the pack in line and maintaining the overall peace.
